Angela Bassett was born on 16th August 1958 in New York City. Her father Daniel Benjamin was a preacher’s son and her mother Betty Jane was a social worker. Angela Bassett has one sister and her mother brought up their children as a single mother.
Angela Bassett was educated at Jordan Park Elementary School and Ciega High School from where she went to Yale University for her Bachelor of Arts degree, and she thereafter did her masters in fine arts in Drama.
