Born on August 23, 1931, in Tuscon, Arizona, Barbara Jean Morehead was the daughter of Alice Mary and Huber Henry, a butcher by profession.
Her mother soon divorced her father, and they eventually moved to San Francisco where Alice married Harrison Connor Huffman who was a telephone lineman.
Eden made her foray into singing at a young age, singing in the local church choir. At the age of 16, she became a member of Actor’s Equity. She continued with her music in San Francisco Conservatory of Music and also did theatre with Elizabeth Holloway School of Theatre. She graduated from Abraham Lincoln High School in 1949. She was elected Miss San Francisco in 1951.
