Teri Ann Garr was born in Lakewood, Ohio, on 11th December 1944. Her father, Eddie Garr was a performer, comedian, and actor in vaudeville genre. Her mother, Phyllis Lind Garr was a stage actress and model. Being surrounded by stage performers, she soon discovered her passion for dancing. She had two elder brothers, Ed and Phil Garr.
Teri Garr lost her father when she was 11 years old. Since then, her mother supported her. She received her education from North Hollywood High School, situated in Northridge and spent most of her time practicing ballet.
