Jon Gruden is now 35 being born on 17th of August, 1963 in Sandusky, Ohio in U.S.A. His father was also from a footballing background having served in several positions in the field. His brother, Jay is also in football and has in fact coached several teams, while his other brother is a radiologist at the Weill Cornell Medical College.
As a child Jon was a huge fan of the Cleveland Browns. For high school he attended the Clay High School in South Bend India. After this, he went to the Muskingum College in New Concord, Ohio. In the middle of the course he moved to University of Dayton from where he went on to major in communication. It was at this institute that he started playing as a quarter back. During his time as a player, which was for about 3 seasons, the Flyers had a 24 to 7 record. He is presently married to Cindy.

Jon Gruden started his career as an assistant coach for the University of Tennessee. After which he went on to coach various other university teams. His career in professional coaching began in 1992. He was the special offensive assistant for the “Green Bay Packers”. It was only in 1998 that he was elected as the head coach for the “Oakland Raiders”. In 2002, he got appointed as the coach of “Tampa Bay Buccaneers”.
