Born as Kristine Tsuya Yamaguchi, on July 12, 1971, in Hayward, California, Kristi Yamaguchi is an American former figure skater, author, and TV personality. She has American and Japanese ancestry. Her grandparents emigrated to US. Her mother, Jim Yamaguchi, was a dentist while her father, Carole Yamaguchi, was a medical secretary. She was raised in Fremont, California with her other two siblings. She had dreamt of becoming a figure skater since her childhood.
In fact, she was initially home-schooled just to keep continue her training schedules. Later, she attended Mission San Jose High School and completed her high school from here. Then, she attended the University of Alberta and completed a psychology course from here.
