George R.R. Martin was born on the 20th of September in the year 1948 to parents Raymond Collins Martin and Margaret Brandy Martin. He was born in New Jersey and also has two younger sisters Janet and Darleen. His father had half Italian descent, whereas his mother had half Irish ancestry. His roots go back to German, French, Welsh, and English.
George went to Mary Jane Donohoe School and then to Marist High School. Here he developed a strong interest in comics by reading Marvel Comics. Martin wrote a letter to the Fantastic Four Editor, which got published, and then the readers started writing to him in return. This led him to be a part of the comics Fandom era. He was also the first person to have registered for the comic book convention that was held in New York in the year 1964.
