Karrine Steffans’ Early Life
Born on August 24, 1978 at St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands, Karrine Steffans had a very disturbed childhood. Where on the one hand, her African-American father was apathetic towards her all throughout her childhood, her Puerto Rican mother was a raging alcoholic, on the other. She was tormented at the hands of her mother who abused her both physically and emotionally. To add to her already miserable life, Karrine Steffans was raped at the minor age of 13. At the age of 16, she ran away from her house and found work in a strip club to support herself. She had no accommodation and therefore, was forced to live on the streets. Her struggle did not end there, however. When Karrine Steffans decided to move in with rapper Nathaniel Wilson, she had no clue of what the future held for her. She gave birth to her son -Jamie Wilson at the young age of 19, all the while suffering from abuse at the hands of her then boyfriend. She landed in the hospital one day and it was then that she decided to move to Los Angeles to protect her son.
