Marc Andreessen was born on July 9, 1971, in Cedar Falls, Iowa, to his parents Lowell and Patricia Andreessen. He was raised in New Lisbon, Wisconsin.
He went to the University of Illinois at Urbana–Champaign where he received his bachelor’s degree in computer science. While he was in college, he did an internship at IBM, Texas twice in the AIX graphics software development group. Andreessen also worked at the National Center for Supercomputing Applications (NCSA) while studying at the University of Illinois.
