Mona Scott was born on the 15th of February, 1967 in Queens, NYC. Her parents were of Haitian origin. Unfortunately, her father passed away when she was only 9 and the responsibility to take care of the family landed on the shoulders of her mother, Jeanine Ridore. Her mother dedicatedly worked as a cleaning member of the staff in a private school, so that Mona could study in it. After she passed out high school, she dropped the idea of college in order to work and help her mother pay the bills. She lived independently and worked part time in Radio City Music Hall where she was inspired to join the dance lessons. Soon, she met the Brooklyn group ‘TrackMasters’, which comprised of some young women involved in the field of choreography. She was later provided with a hip-hop group, which she was supposed to manage and thus, began her career as a talent manager. From there onwards, her success took a highway and she became quite an influential personality in show biz. In 2005, Mona got married to Shawn Young with whom she now has two children.
The ‘TrackMasters’ members introduced Mona to Chris Lighty (music executive) who later on became her partner in establishing ‘Violator’, which is their management company. The company helped various clients in launching their careers, like Q-Tip, Ja Rule, Busta Rhymes, Mariah Carey, 50 Cent, LL Cool J, Missy Elliott, etc., over the course of the past 20 years.
