On September 21, 1979, Otis and Debra Burns, residents of Anderson, South Carolina; a male child was born, whom they christened as John Marks Burns. Mark Burns took to the keyboards at an early age and began playing music and singing. He performed with his family group and sang gospel music. Their family group was called Burns Brothers of Belton, South Carolina. They travelled all over the country and performed at religious gatherings.
