Hoppus was born on 15th March 1972 in Ridgecrest, California to Kerry Wernz and Tex Hoppus. When Mark was in 3rd grade, their parents divorced, so his sister Anna Hoppus and him had to shuffle between his mother’s and his father’s house which made him lonely. When he was in junior high, he got interested in skateboarding and listening to punk rock music. He got his first bass guitar and attended his first concert when he was in his second year in Annandale High School. Hoppus taught himself to play bass by playing to other band songs.
