Ritchie Blackmore Early Life
Ritchie Blackmore was born on 14 April 1945, in Weston-super-Mare, Somerset to his parents Lewis J. Blackmore and Violet. When Blackmore was two years of age, his family moved to Heston, Middlesex. His father gifted him his first guitar at the age of 11.
When he was young, he wanted to be like Tommy Steele because he used to just jump around and play. While he was in school he participated in various sporting events including javelin throw. Blackmore disliked his school and teachers and hence left his school at the age of 15 to work as a radio mechanic at the Heathrow Airport.
He took electric guitar lessons from the professional guitarist Big Jim Sullivan.
In 1964, he married Margit Volkmar and together they have a son “Jürgen”. After their divorce, he married a former German dancer “Bärbel” in the year 1969. The couple divorced in 1970.

Ritchie Blackmore started his career as a session player for the music production company of Joe Meek. He was the member of the English instrumental band “The Outlaws” and performed in many live concerts.
In 1968, he joined the band “Deep Purple” after an invitation from Chris Curtis. The first studio album of the Mark Two line up of the band was “In Rock” (1970) which was highly appreciated by the fans.
In 1975, Blackmore quit the band to form the new band “Rainbow”. In the same year, the band’s first studio album Ritchie Blackmore’s Rainbow was released.
