Ryan Leslie was born on September 25, 1978, in Washington D.C. His parents were officers in the Salvation Army and therefore they frequently relocate for work. At a very young age, Leslie learned to play the piano.
When he was 14 years of age, he scored a perfect score of 1600 in his SAT test while studying at the Bear Creek High School, in Stockton, California.
