Chip learned to draw from his dad and initially, he tried to copy all his dad’s designs, which later inspired him to draw the designs of his own. Chip worked at Hot Rods by Boyd for a quite a long time. In 1998, Hot Rods by Boys was facing bankruptcy, so Chip left the position at the company. He and his wife shifted to Huntington Beach, California and started a new business. Chip started his own automotive and design company called Foose Designs.
Foose gained a lot of popularity when TLC Channel made a documentary on his design and creation of modified 2002 Thunderbird called the Speedbird. Soon after the documentary, TLC launched a show called Overhaulin’ starring Chip Foose. They filmed over five seasons in which Chip restored over 80 vehicles. He also made designs for NASCAR and other famous clients.
