He was born on April 4, 1974, in Chittenango, New York and died on February 4, 2016, in Greenville, North California by way of suicide. Dave Mirra’s graduation was done from the California State Polytechnic University, Pomona after which, he moved to Greenville, North California, where he attended the East California University. Mirra started his career in racing at the age of 13 in 1987 by joining Haro Bikes BMX team. He had also received a sponsorship from Vision Street Wear in 1989. He turned as a professional racer in 1992. It is remarkable that he won a medal at X Games in every year from 1995 through 2009 which accumulated to 24 medals till 2013, except the year 2006.
Since 2008 till 2013 he completed in rallying and rallycross as a member of Subaru Rally Team USA. He was also interested in Ironman Competitions competing in his first Triathlon in March 2013. The success of Mirra took him to other exceptional fields other than bike riding.

The late Dave Mirra has been inducted into the BMX Hall of Fame, located in Chula Vista, CA.Each year, only one rider per category is inducted into the BMX Hall of Fame, but USA BMX extended an automatic induction to Mirra during the voting process in March. Mirra looked on as 2,500 athletes, including his buddy from his hometown of Syracuse, N.Y., swam two loops around Mirror Lake, biked 112 miles and finished with a 26.2 mile run through the town and around the lake.
