Early Life
Born on April 4, 1973, in Brooklyn, New York, Blaine showed interest in magic at an early age when he saw a magician perform in the subway. His parents, Patrice Maureen White and William Perez are of Puerto Rica, Italian and Jewish ancestry.
He went to Passaic Valley Regional High School and moved to Manhattan, New York when he was 17 years old.
Blaine has a half-brother Michael Bukalo from his mother’s second marriage.

In 1999, he performed one of the most incredible endurance tasks ever seen at the time. He entombed himself in a plastic box which was kept beneath a water tank weighing three tons for seven days. Even Houdini does not hold the distinction of performing this feat.
In 2000, he encapsulated himself in an ice box in a stunt called Frozen in Time. This was performed live in Times Square, and he remained in that ice cube for over 63 hours.
In 2002, a crane lifted him on top of a 100 feet high pillar without any harness. He stayed on the pillar for around 35 hours.
In the same year, he released his book, Mysterious Stranger: A Book of Magic, which is a part autobiography and partially a treasure hunt.
In 2003, he sealed himself in a Plexiglass case which was suspended in the Thames river. The stunt began on September 5 and ended on October 19. He was subsequently hospitalised.
In 2006, his stunt Drowned Alive involved submerging himself in a tank of the isotonic solution in Lincoln Centre.
In the same year, he performed his Revolution stunt, where he bound himself to a rotating gyroscope and escaped from it 52 hours later.
He began his stunt Dive of Death, in 2008 in which he risked potential blindness and other maladies.
