David Seth Kotkin, professionally known as David Copperfield was born on September 16, 1956, in Metuchen, New Jersey to Rebecca Kotkin and Hyman Kotkin.
He completed his schooling at Metuchen High School in 1974. At 12, Copperfield became the youngest person to get enrolled in the Society of American Magicians. By 16, he was a magic course teacher at New York University.
