Beanie Sigel’s real name is Dwight Equan Grant who was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on March 6, 1974. His name ‘Beanie’ was his nickname and ‘Sigel’ comes from a street name in his neighborhood in Philadelphia. Sigel at a very young age of 14 underwent eight arrests. In a media interaction, he disclosed to the Philadelphia Tribune that he belonged to the streets and was involved in legal activities.
During his youthful times, he has worked as a Coach Leather goods seller and a squeegee man cleaning windows of cars at the major city intersections.

His second studio album, The Reason, under Roc-A-Fella records was released in 2001 and also reached the fifth position on Billboard 200. In 2002, Sigel along with Roc-A-Fella featured in State Property and came up with a movie’s soundtrack- Roc the Mic along with Freeway.

During 2005 Sigel had to serve his prison sentence stemmed from a previous case. So, before being jailed again for a year, he shot many videos and completed his third album under Dame Dash Music Group. This album charted the third position on the Billboard 200. His hit track “Feel it in the Air” sold hundred thousand copies in the first week itself.
Sigel worked on his fourth album “The Solution” in 2006 and released it in May 2007 which entered the
Billboard Chart at 37th position.
He released his independent album “The Broad Street Bully” in 2009, after which he worked on a couple of more albums. In 2010, after recording the track, “I Go Off” with 50 Cent, Sigel declared conclusion of his career. But, he renewed his contract with G-Unit Records in 2011.
