Art Garfunkel Early Life
Art Garfunkel was born on November 5, 1941, in Queens, New York, United States. he was born to Rose (née Pearlman) and Jacob “Jack” Garfunkel, a traveling salesman. Art has two siblings, an older brother called Jules and a younger brother called Jerome. His father was from Romania. They were raised in a Jewish family.
He attended the Forest Hills High School where he met his work partner Simon. He also received his tertiary education from Columbia University based in Manhattan. He majored in Architecture. on October 1, 1972, Art Garfunkel married Linda Marie Grossman, an architect, in Nashville. The couple divorced in 1975. According to Art, the marriage was rough and ended on an unpleasant note.
He also dated Laurie Bird from 1974, Laurie, however, committed suicide in 1979. He also dated Penny Marshal in the mid-1980s. he met former model Kathryn Cermak in 1985, the couple tied the knot in 1988. They have two children, James and Beau Daniel.

In 1963, Art and Simon teamed up. Their duo partnership was named “Simon and Garfunkel”. They released their first album titled “Wednesday Morning, 3 A.M.” in 1964. The album did not sell well. The duo split up after that.
A year after, producer Tom Wilson remade “The Sound of Silence”, a song from the duo’s album. He included an electric backing. The song was released as a single and it recorded massive success. The duo came together again after the success of the single.
They released more albums which recorded massive success. They include “Sounds of Silence”, and “Bookends”. They also released” Bridge over Troubled Water” which was incredibly successful. The duo split up again in 1970. They cited personal differences as the reason.
